Planning a Visit to Buttermilk Forty?

Are you interested in visiting, taking a farm tour, and/or shopping in the store? We both work outside of the home, so we are open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and we are open to the public a few times a year for various farm events.

Call or text Jennifer to set up your visit (660-620-5546). We currently don't charge for farm tours, but we do ask that you make a donation to the farm or shop in our store in exchange for your tour experience.

NEW FOR THE SUMMER OF 2024 - The Paca Picnic Pavilion

It will be available soon to rent for your next small event such as a family reunion or a birthday party. We're currently adding electricity to the shelter and we'll post an update here when it is ready for rental!

Buttermilk Forty Alpacas is a beautiful small Suri alpaca ranch focused on breeding Suri alpacas which are known for their soft, silky, lustrous fiber. Visitors are welcome to come to learn about these inquisitive, charming, and gentle animals and hand-feed them. A farm store will be open for all of your alpaca needs - stocked with everything from socks to blankets, and novelty items as well. We just received our first shipment of yarn (9/3/23) from the fiber of our animals and have it for sale in our store.

The ranch sits on about 45 acres and boasts stunning sunsets and it sits on a bluff overlooking the Muddy Creek bottoms and several duck ponds. The ranch is centrally located in the state of Missouri. It is located 15 minutes south of I-70 and lies between Kansas City and Columbia Missouri, home to the University of Missouri (Mizzou). Sedalia, the nearest town (20 minutes away), is home to the Missouri State Fair (August) and the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival (June). Sedalia has a beautiful historic downtown with boutiques, antique shops, restaurants, and the county courthouse. The ranch is also about 45 minutes north of Cole Camp, a town with a rich German history, full of antique and specialty shops as well as a few wineries. The Katy Trail, a popular cycling/running trail that spans most of the state, is five minutes away from the property.

We are also part of the Harvest Hosts organization and welcome RV guests to come and stay for a night and enjoy a farm tour and shopping experience.

Come check out what our area has to offer and learn about the alpacas along the way. Contact Jennifer to set up your alpaca experience!
